General secretary To Lam attends the inauguration of the Laos-Vietnam friendship park in Vientiane, a symbolic project for the relationship between the two nations.

The inauguration ceremony for the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park was held in Vientiane on 2/12. General Secretary To Lam of Vietnam and his spouse attended, alongside General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and his spouse. The event, reported by TTXVN, also saw the participation of numerous leaders from various Lao ministries, sectors, and Lao citizens.

This ceremony was part of General Secretary To Lam's state visit to Laos. His visit included attending the 50th anniversary celebration of Laos' national day and co-chairing a high-level meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party on 1-2/12.

Spanning over 30,000 square meters, the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park is located in an area designated as a major urban center in Vientiane. This symbolic project represents a cultural and spiritual gift from Vietnam, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Laos' national day and celebrating the national congresses of both Parties.

The project's total value exceeds 340 billion VND. Vietnam provided 330 billion VND as non-refundable aid, while Laos contributed approximately 10 billion VND in counterpart funds.

At the inauguration, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized the event's special significance, marking a new step forward in the relationship between the two Parties and nations. He attributed this achievement to the solidarity and determination of both countries' political systems, ensuring the project's safe and high-quality construction.

He urged relevant agencies to allocate resources and operate the facility efficiently, ensuring it becomes a valuable spiritual asset that meets public expectations. The deputy prime minister expressed confidence that the Friendship Park would be followed by many more significant projects in the future. Vietnam pledged to continue promoting agreed-upon key cooperation projects.

Thongsalith Mangnomek, Chief of the Office of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, affirmed that the project symbolizes the special friendship built by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, and President Souphanouvong.

He stated that the park serves not only as a cultural, sports, and recreational space for residents but also as a place to preserve traditions for future generations. This will be a significant site, promoting revolutionary education to help young generations understand the intertwined history of the two nations, thereby fostering their responsibility to continue and uphold the special solidarity between the two countries.
