The Hamas militant group in the Gaza Strip today released images of "members of the military council who have been killed," including Mohammed Sinwar and several other commanders.
Mohammed Sinwar became the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip and head of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the organization's armed wing, in 10/2024, after his brother Yahya Sinwar was killed by the Israeli military.
Israel first announced Sinwar's death on 28/5, saying it was the result of a raid on Khan Younis two weeks earlier. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed to have found Sinwar's body in a tunnel under a hospital in June.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the same day confirmed that the IDF had targeted Abu Obeida, the spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades. "I hope the target is no longer alive, but there seems to be no one left from Hamas to confirm," he said.
In recent years, Abu Obeida has consistently appeared in Hamas propaganda videos, his face typically covered by a red keffiyeh. Obeida's most recent statement was on 29/8, when he warned that the Israeli military would "pay with the blood of their soldiers" if they proceeded with their plan to occupy Gaza City.
After nearly 23 months of conflict in the Gaza Strip, the IDF has killed numerous high-ranking Hamas leaders, including political leader Ismail Haniyeh, military commander Mohammed Deif, and leader Yahya Sinwar, significantly weakening the movement.
The Hamas attack on southern Israel on 7/10/2023 killed 1,219 people, mostly civilians. Of the 251 hostages taken, 47 are still held in Gaza, with an estimated 20 believed to be alive. Israel's retaliatory campaign has killed over 63,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians, according to figures from Gaza's health authorities.
