"In recent months, I have given serious thought to asking Californians for the privilege of serving as their governor. I love this state, its people, and its promise. It is, and always will be, my home. However, after much consideration, I have decided not to run for governor," former US Vice President Kamala Harris said on 30/7.

Harris expressed "immense admiration and respect" for those who dedicate their lives to public service. The former vice president carefully weighed her options before making the decision, affirming her ongoing commitment to public service. She stated her intention to actively support the Democratic Party in the upcoming term.
"My leadership and public service role now lies outside of elected office. I look forward to getting back out on the road, listening to Americans, and helping to elect Democrats across the country who will fight fearlessly. I will have more to share about my own plans in the coming months," Harris said.
US media outlets suggest this decision will likely fuel speculation about a potential 2028 presidential bid.
