Iran state television today released images of Mostafa, Meysam, and Masoud, three sons of the late leader Ali Khamenei, praying alongside four other family members behind the coffins placed at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla Grand Mosque in the capital Tehran.
Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was not present with the family, and Iranian officials did not state a reason. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, along with Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, also attended and prayed at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla Grand Mosque.

Iran is holding one week of funeral ceremonies for the late leader Ali Khamenei, which includes transporting his coffin to Shiite religious sites in neighboring Iraq.
After one day of lying in state for senior Iranian leaders and foreign officials to pay their respects, the late leader Khamenei's coffin was brought outdoors on 4/7 under a glass enclosure, alongside the coffins of his daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and 14-month-old granddaughter.
Many Iranians gathered to fill the Mosalla mosque, even overnight, to pay their respects to the late leader. Iran's subway network reported 7 million trips from late 4/7 to the morning of 5/7 as people flocked to the capital's center.

Following a large-scale parade in central Tehran on 6/7, the late leader Khamenei's coffin will be transported to the shrine city of Qom, the center of the Shiite clergy in Iran, for ceremonies on 7/7.
From Qom, the coffin will be flown to Iraq for ceremonies in the holy shrine cities of Najaf and Karbala on 8/7. The coffin will then be returned to Iran for another parade in Mashhad before burial.
Iranian officials have planned to mobilize millions of people to participate in the large parades in the coming days, while also subsidizing their travel, food, and accommodation costs.
Mojtaba Khamenei was injured on 28/2 in an airstrike that began the US-Israel operation. The Iranian leader has not appeared publicly since assuming office on 8/3; his written statements are read on state television.

Hossein Kermanpour, spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Health, confirmed in May that Khamenei "only sustained minor injuries to his face, head, and leg, which did not result in amputation or any serious medical issues" after the airstrike.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health stated that such injuries were "not considered serious and did not require special medical procedures," beyond a few stitches. After a few days of treatment, Mojtaba was discharged from the hospital in the early morning of 1/3.
