The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck "Houthi military infrastructure at the port of Hodeidah" in western Yemen on 16/9. The IDF accused the Houthis of using the port to transport Iranian-supplied weapons to attack Israel and its allies.
The IDF issued a warning before the operation, urging people at the port and nearby vessels to evacuate. The IDF said this was in response to Houthi attacks.

"This operation aims to continue the sea and air blockade against the Houthis," Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said. "The Houthis will continue to suffer attacks and pay a heavy price for any attempt to attack Israel."
The Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah reported that "Israel attacked the port of Hodeidah 12 times." Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree announced that the group's air defenses were engaging Israeli aircraft, but did not disclose the outcome of the battle.

Following the outbreak of conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Houthis have repeatedly launched missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at Israel, as well as attacking vessels they believe are linked to the country. The Houthis claimed these actions were in solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Israel has repeatedly attacked Houthi-controlled areas in retaliation, mainly targeting infrastructure such as seaports, power plants, and the international airport in the capital, Sanaa.
The IDF has recently intensified its attacks against the Houthis, resulting in the deaths of law enforcement leaders and several political officials. Last week, the Israeli military attacked a Houthi event in Sanaa and other locations in Al Jawf province, killing 46 people and injuring more than 160.
