At a White House dinner with president Trump on 7/7, prime minister Netanyahu said, "He is forging peace, from nation to nation, from region to region".
Netanyahu then presented Trump with the letter he had sent to the Nobel committee nominating the president for the peace prize.
"It's richly deserved, and you should get it," Netanyahu continued.
"Well, that's very nice, especially coming from you," Trump replied.
Netanyahu earlier praised Trump for "pursuing peace and security in so many areas, particularly in the Middle East".
"Our two teams combined have been a tremendous force for confronting challenges and seizing opportunities," the Israeli leader said, highlighting US air strikes against Iran during the Tel Aviv - Tehran conflict last month.

The Nobel peace prize, decided by the Nobel committee in Norway, is awarded to "the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses." Nominations are made by academics, university professors, scientists, past Nobel laureates, and parliamentarians and leaders of countries.
Trump has been nominated several times for the Nobel peace prize. In 2/2019, he claimed he had been nominated by then-Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe for his peace efforts with North Korea.
Earlier this year, 4 leading Israeli scientists wrote to Trump, saying they were prepared to nominate him for the Nobel peace prize if the US could persuade Hamas to return all hostages.
The Pakistani government announced last month that it had nominated Trump for the 2026 Nobel peace prize in recognition of his decisive leadership in addressing the Pakistan - India crisis.
