Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung and Lao Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune attended the inauguration and handover ceremony of the Lao - Vietnam Friendship Hospital in Houaphanh province, northern Laos, on 4/12, according to TTXVN.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung stated that the hospital has a capacity of 200 beds and is equipped with advanced medical facilities. Its total investment of over 500 billion dong comes from non-refundable aid provided by the Vietnamese government to Laos.
This project aims to establish a provincial general hospital, fully meeting the healthcare needs of local residents. It also contributes to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for the people of Houaphanh province and other northern Lao provinces.

Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune expressed deep gratitude to the Party, the State, and the people of Vietnam for their comprehensive support and assistance to Laos in general, and specifically in the healthcare sector.
The Lao Deputy Prime Minister instructed the authorities of Houaphanh province and Samnuea district to manage, utilize, and protect the facility effectively, ensuring its long-term service for the healthcare of the local population.

Vietnam and Laos established diplomatic relations on 5/9/1962. In 2/2019, both sides agreed to elevate their relationship from "traditional friendship" to "great friendship".
Bilateral trade for the first 10 months of 2025 reached nearly 2,5 billion USD, an increase of 50,4% compared to 2024. This made Vietnam Laos' third largest trade partner, with a target of 5 billion USD and an aspiration to reach 10 billion USD in the near future. Regarding investment, Vietnam currently has 274 investment projects in Laos, with a total registered capital exceeding 5,8 billion USD.
