Quentin Deranque, a 23-year-old French citizen, died last week from head injuries after at least six individuals attacked him on the sidelines of a far-right protest at a university in Lyon. According to informed sources, most of the 11 suspects arrested are linked to far-left movements.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated on 18/2 that Deranque's death was "a wound for all of Europe".
French President Emmanuel Macron later retorted, saying "let everyone mind their own business" and urged Meloni to "stop commenting on what is happening in other countries".
Macron emphasized that France has no place for movements that accept and legitimize violence. "Nothing can justify acts of violence, whether from one side or the other," the French leader stressed.

The 11 suspects arrested in connection with Deranque's death—eight men and three women—now face charges of "intentional homicide". Among them are two assistants to MP Raphael Arnault, from the far-left France Unbowed (LFI) party.
The lawyer for Deranque's parents stated they are calling for calm and restraint. "The family condemns all calls for violence, as well as any form of political violence," the lawyer added.
