"The U.S. will contribute 10 billion USD to the Peace Council. Together, we will achieve the dream of bringing lasting peace to a land tormented by centuries of war and suffering," President Donald Trump stated at the inaugural session of the Peace Council in Washington D.C. today.
He added that U.S. allies such as Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Uzbekistan have contributed over 7 billion USD to the Gaza Strip relief package, and affirmed his desire to pursue further peace agreements. "A word easy to say but difficult to achieve, that is 'peace'," he noted.

President Trump also stated that the U.S. will increase funding for the United Nations (UN) to help the organization strengthen and operate more effectively, ensuring the proper functioning of its facilities. "The UN has truly immense potential, but it has not yet fully realized it," he said.
The Peace Council meeting will also consider how to deploy the International Stabilization Force (ISF) to ensure security in the Gaza Strip.
Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation, announced it would contribute 8,000 troops to this force. U.S. Major General Jasper Jeffers stated that Indonesia has accepted the position of ISF deputy commander.
The Peace Council is considered the most viable initiative since the conflict erupted in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, facilitating dialogue and negotiations among relevant parties to end the conflict and move towards a sustainable peace solution for the region.
Most invited countries have accepted the invitation to join the Peace Council to demonstrate their support and political commitment, but are currently in the exploratory phase of developing deployment plans and have not yet made specific commitments for contributions and participation.
General Secretary To Lam arrived in the U.S. on 18/2 to attend the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council on Gaza at the invitation of President Donald Trump.
The visit demonstrates support for peace efforts in general and the Gaza Strip reconstruction initiative in particular, contributing to deepening Vietnam-U.S. cooperation in addressing regional and global issues, in line with the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
