During a meeting with Cambodian National Assembly Chair Khuon Sudary in Switzerland on 29/7, National Assembly Chair Tran Thanh Man said the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand was a positive step towards restoring normalcy and preventing harm to civilians. This also avoids losses for the people, upholds ASEAN's mediating role, and strengthens unity and solidarity within the bloc, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Man expressed his hope that Cambodia and Thailand would engage in negotiations, set aside their differences, and resolve disputes peacefully for the benefit of both countries and ASEAN.

The National Assembly Chair also expressed his pleasure at the new developments in the relationship between the two parties, countries, and national assemblies. Cooperation in defense, security, investment, and trade has been strengthened, with bilateral trade reaching 6.4 billion USD in the first six months of the year. People-to-people exchanges have also been promoted with many meaningful activities.
Man requested that Cambodia continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living in the Tonle Sap Lake area, and cooperate in the transfer and repatriation of citizens when Cambodia cracks down on criminal hotspots.
The Cambodian National Assembly Chair said the Cambodia-Vietnam relationship has a long history, having overcome many difficulties together since independence. Cambodia never forgets the great sacrifices and sincere help of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, the Vietnamese Party, State, and people in liberating Cambodia from the Pol Pot genocidal regime in 1979, helping the Cambodian nation revive and develop as it is today.
The two sides agreed to strengthen political trust, maintain delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, enhance connections between young leaders of the two countries, and promote the tradition of solidarity, close ties, and mutual sacrifice between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the two sides agreed to maintain contact between friendship parliamentarian groups, young parliamentarians, and female parliamentarians of the two countries to exchange information and experience in the field of legislation, especially in institution building and legal systems.
