National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik congratulated Vietnam on its recent development achievements, expressing confidence that Vietnam will continue to grow strongly and achieve its goals of becoming a high-income developed nation by 2045.

Both leaders praised the cooperation between the two countries' national assemblies, agreeing to strengthen the role of legislative bodies in coordinating, supporting, and urging ministries, sectors, and localities to implement signed cooperation agreements. They emphasized promoting substantial, effective, and comprehensive connections between the two economies.

The Party chief proposed both sides effectively and comprehensively implement the signed cooperation agreements between the two national assemblies. He suggested strengthening cooperation and exchange between the two parliaments, increasing high-level delegation exchanges and lawmaker interactions, and leveraging the bridging role of the two countries' friendship parliamentary groups.

The Vietnamese and South Korean leaders also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest, agreeing to support each other in multilateral mechanisms and forums, including the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (AAPA). They also agreed to strengthen cooperation between political parties in Asia.

Both leaders shared a common vision for ensuring maritime and aviation security, safety, and freedom in the South China Sea. They emphasized maintaining a peaceful, stable environment, legal order, and resolving maritime disputes through peaceful means, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of nations in accordance with international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse are on a state visit to South Korea from 10/8-13/8. The Vietnamese leader is the first foreign guest of President Lee Jae-myung's administration, who took office earlier in June.
