At the invitation of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, President Luong Cuong visited China from September 2nd to 4th to participate in the 80th-anniversary commemoration of the victory over fascism.
This is President Luong Cuong's first visit to China since assuming the presidency. It coincides with the 2025 year of cultural exchange, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China.
This visit holds significant importance as relations between the two countries and their respective parties continue to deepen and broaden. President Luong Cuong's attendance at the commemoration allows Vietnam to reaffirm its commitment to global peace, security, and development.

26 world leaders attended the military parade at Tiananmen Square on September 3rd to commemorate the victory over fascism.
On the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, at the Government Office.
Mr. Zhao Leji was on an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day, and to co-chair the first meeting of the Cooperation Committee between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National People's Congress of China.
The Prime Minister emphasized the crucial role of the legislative bodies of both nations. He expressed his hope that the National People's Congress of China would work closely with the National Assembly of Vietnam to establish streamlined legal and policy frameworks that facilitate practical cooperation.
The Prime Minister proposed enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as diplomacy, defense, and public security, along with strengthening multilateral coordination.

The Prime Minister expressed his desire for the National People's Congress of China to support and encourage relevant agencies to prioritize railway cooperation, provide concessional loans, support human resource training, and transfer technology to Vietnam, aiming to commence construction of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line in 2025.
The Prime Minister requested China to expand imports of Vietnamese goods, increase the capacity and output of electricity imported from China, accelerate the development of smart border gates, and promptly identify a pilot model for building cross-border economic cooperation zones. He also advocated for promoting high-quality investment and monetary cooperation between the two countries, striving to make scientific, technological, and educational cooperation a new highlight in their bilateral partnership.
China was the first country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam on 18/1/1950. The two countries established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2008.
In 2023, the two countries issued a joint statement on elevating their Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promoting the building of a Community of Shared Future with strategic significance. In terms of trade, in 2024, Vietnam maintained its position as China's largest trading partner in ASEAN and its 4th largest trading partner overall.
