The visit, taking place from 3/8 to 6/8, is at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and his wife. This marks the first state visit by a Vietnamese president to Egypt in seven years, according to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).
President Luong Cuong and his wife, Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, were welcomed at the airport by Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohammed Abdel Latif and Chief of Protocol of the Presidential Office Mohammad Yehia.
Present from the Vietnamese side were Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Nguyen Huy Dung, Vietnamese ambassadors to Algeria, Morocco, Mozambique, South Africa, Nigeria, and Tanzania, along with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt.

President Luong Cuong’s state visit comes amid positive developments in Vietnam-Egypt relations. This is the first visit by a key Vietnamese leader to Egypt in seven years and represents a significant political and diplomatic event for both nations. The visit holds strategic importance and is expected to have a lasting impact on the development of Vietnam-Egypt relations.
Through this visit, the leaders of both countries hope to elevate bilateral relations to new heights, opening up new opportunities and potential for friendly cooperation and mutual prosperity. They also aim to build upon and better utilize new cooperative mechanisms based on respect for international law, independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and each country's political system.
President Luong Cuong is scheduled to hold high-level talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, meet with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Speaker of the Senate Abdel Wahab Abdel-Razek, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafy El-Gebaly. He will also deliver a policy speech at the headquarters of the Arab League (AL) and meet with leaders of the Egyptian Communist Party and representatives of other leftist and progressive Egyptian parties.
The president will also meet with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and other representative offices, as well as Vietnamese citizens living, studying, and working in Egypt.

Vietnam and Egypt established diplomatic relations on 1/9/1963. Egypt was the first North African country to recognize Vietnam as a full market economy and is Vietnam's largest trading partner in North Africa.
In 2024, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Egypt reached 541.36 million USD. Regarding investment, Egypt has 22 registered investment projects in Vietnam with a total capital of 2.87 million USD.
Annually, Egypt provides Vietnam with 12 scholarships for students to study Arabic. The Vietnamese community in Egypt consists of a few dozen families, totaling around 100 people, residing in cities across the country.
