Vietnam became the 149th member of the United Nations (UN) on 20/9/1977. The country actively participates in UN activities and contributes to achieving its common goals.

Vietnam and the US normalized relations on 12/7/1995 and elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023. Bilateral trade in 2024 reached nearly 150 billion USD, a 20.5% increase compared to the previous year. The US is Vietnam's second-largest trading partner and one of its most important export markets.
