A 19-year-old university student working as a delivery driver during his summer break helped rescue a woman trapped in her apartment after spotting a cryptic message written in blood. On 12/8, Zhang Cun noticed a white pillow stained with a dark red substance and the numbers "110 625" written on it near an apartment building in Leshan city, Sichuan province.

Fearing someone was in danger, Zhang immediately called the police. A nearby hotel employee recognized the pillow as belonging to a homestay apartment on the 25th floor of building number 6, matching the "625" on the pillow.
Suspecting a possible assault or kidnapping, police rushed to the apartment and forced their way in, rescuing the woman inside. The woman, identified as Ms. Zhou, the apartment's owner, had been accidentally locked in her bedroom for 30 hours.
Zhou explained that on the morning of 11/8, while cleaning her room, a sudden gust of wind slammed the door shut, trapping her inside due to a faulty lock. Her phone was in the living room, leaving her unable to contact anyone. She kicked and banged on the door, hoping to alert neighbors, but to no avail.
She hung a red garment out the window and threw foam padding from her bed onto the ground below to attract attention, but remained unnoticed. Without food, water, or access to a bathroom for 30 hours, Zhou became increasingly distressed. As a last resort, she bit her finger and used her blood to write "110 625" on a pillow, which she then threw out the window.
"When the police broke down the door, I was overjoyed," Zhou said.
Grateful for Zhang's quick thinking, Zhou offered him 1,000 yuan (140 USD), which he declined. "He's still a student, but he refused the money. I was very touched. His actions made me feel the warmth of humanity," she said.

Zhang downplayed his actions, saying, "It was just a normal act of kindness. Anyone in that situation would have called the police." Meituan, the delivery company Zhang works for, awarded him the title of "Pioneer Delivery Driver" and a bonus of 2,000 yuan (280 USD).
Online users praised Zhang's actions. "So lucky! The delivery driver was very quick-witted and truly did a great thing," one commented. Another added, "His only job was to deliver food, but when he noticed something was wrong, he acted decisively and responsibly."
