On April 30, Kentucky State Police spokesperson Scottie Pennington stated that a masked individual, wearing a grey-white hoodie and gloves, entered a U.S. Bank branch in Berea. The suspect then opened fire, killing one male and one female employee.
"They were workers in our community, and now they are no longer with us," Pennington said, adding that police have several leads and are pursuing the suspect.
Kentucky State Police released photographs of the suspect on social media. The suspect is believed to be about 1.90 meters tall and fled the scene towards East Chestnut Street.

Officials stated it is unclear how the suspect escaped or if any accomplices were involved. Spokesperson Pennington declined to provide information on the extent of property damage to the bank.
Law enforcement agencies, including local police, state police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), are searching for the suspect, utilizing helicopters, drones, and K9 units.
"If you see something strange or feel uneasy, for example, if your dog exhibits unusual behavior, please call us," Pennington said.
U.S. Bank announced it is cooperating closely with law enforcement and providing support to those affected.
"We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident that claimed the lives of two employees. We extend our deepest condolences to the victims' families, colleagues, and the entire Berea community," U.S. Bank stated in a release.
