The Ukrainian Air Force Command reported that Russia attacked Ukraine with 141 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) today, approximately 80 of which were Geran-2 suicide drones.
"Air defense units shot down and jammed a total of 132 drones, but 9 hit 7 locations, while debris fell in 8 areas," the command stated, without disclosing the specific locations attacked or the extent of the damage.
Videos recorded by Ukrainian citizens show several large explosions and plumes of smoke and fire in what appears to be the outskirts of Kyiv during the night.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the attack on Kyiv province injured one person and damaged several apartment buildings and private homes.
RusVesna, a news website linked to the Russian Ministry of Defense, reported that dozens of UAVs targeted Boryspil Airport near Kyiv, believed to be one of the locations where Ukraine's Patriot air defense system is deployed. "At least one jet-powered UAV was seen in the area during the attack," the Russian website reported.
Oleh Hryhorov, the governor of Sumy, reported that the Russian UAV attack on his region injured two people and damaged several houses and civilian infrastructure.
The Ukrainian Air Force Command added that the Russian Air Force also bombed the city of Zaporizhzhia, the capital of the province of the same name, causing casualties. Ivan Fedorov, the Ukrainian-appointed governor of Zaporizhzhia, said that Russian forces dropped at least 10 glide bombs on the city, killing three people, injuring two, and damaging 15 apartment buildings and 10 other structures.
Russian officials have not yet commented on the reports.

Sergey Aksyonov, the Russian-appointed leader of Crimea, on the same day accused the Ukrainian military of launching a UAV attack on the town of Foros, killing three people, injuring 16, and damaging the grounds of a resort and a school. Falling UAV debris also caused a fire near the coastal city of Yalta.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said its air defenses shot down 114 enemy UAVs, including 10 in the Crimean Peninsula, 5 over the Sea of Azov, and two in the Black Sea. Other regions that reported intercepting Ukrainian UAVs include Rostov, Belgorod, Astrakhan, Yaroslavl, Volgograd, Kursk, Voronezh, and Krasnodar Krai.

Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly attacked each other's critical infrastructure, including railway systems and energy facilities. Both sides accuse each other of targeting civilian sites while claiming to only aim at military targets. These attacks occur amidst stalled peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
