The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on 26/7 that it had "liberated the village of Maliyevka" in Dnipropetrovsk province. This key central Ukrainian province is considered an important industrial and mining hub, supplying coal to the national power grid.

Igor Kimakovsky, an advisor to Denis Pushilin, the Moscow-appointed leader of Donetsk province, stated that "Ukrainian armed forces units have been dislodged from their positions" in Maliyevka.
Maliyevka is located about two kilometers southwest of the village of Voskresenka in Donetsk province, which Russia claimed control of on 15/7. Dnipropetrovsk holds strategic importance, bordering the provinces of Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson.
Further advances into this province could allow Russian forces to intensify their offensive toward Dnipro, the capital of Dnipropetrovsk province and one of Ukraine's largest cities, although their units are still approximately 200 km away.
In response to Russia's advance, Ukrainian authorities have ordered the mandatory evacuation of families with children from the front-line area.
