Secret files reveal 13 fighter jets once pursued a UFO

Newly released classified US documents indicate that 13 fighter jets were once deployed to chase an unidentified flying object in an undisclosed airspace.

Disclosure Foundation, a US nonprofit advocating for greater transparency regarding unidentified flying objects (UFOs), recently made public a large volume of top-secret National Security Agency (NSA) files detailing numerous encounters with UFOs.

All files were marked with the codename "Umbra", the NSA's highest security designation. Disclosure Foundation obtained these classified documents after winning an appeal related to the Freedom of Information Act.

The records contain eyewitness accounts of unexplained phenomena, as well as radar tracking data and incidents involving military aircraft. One document describes 13 fighter jets being deployed to pursue an unknown, mysterious object in the sky.

However, details regarding the time, location, and witnesses of the incident were redacted by the NSA. Many other sections in the documents were also censored with redactions, leaving the outcome of this pursuit unclear.

In other incidents, the documents reveal that Soviet-made fighter jets were also scrambled to chase mysterious objects in the sky.

Radar tracking data reports describe UFOs as star-shaped, spherical, or resembling "fireballs".

"The object moved up and down at very high speeds and at very high altitudes", also emitting a white light, according to one document detailing a suspected UFO encounter.

Other documents describe an object with two yellow lights moving at low altitude, silently changing direction from north to west, along with an object emitting "22 m long light radiation, spiraling out from a black core". Another record mentions a UFO that was "spherical or disc-shaped" and brighter than the sun.

These documents were released days before the Pentagon, on 22/5, disclosed 222 declassified UFO documents, including an audio recording of the Apollo 12 spacecraft crew recounting seeing a mysterious "streak of light" while attempting to sleep in deep space.

The US Department of Defense also released 160 UFO documents in the first batch on 8/5, at the request of President Donald Trump.

Former US President Barack Obama caused a stir in February with his statement "aliens are real" on a podcast. Although he later clarified his remarks, many still consider it a "slip of the tongue revealing the biggest secret in history".

In the US, reviewing UFO records is not unprecedented. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the 1990s reviewed all collected information and concluded that most UFOs were actually top-secret reconnaissance aircraft. However, such official conclusions have not satisfied the UFO-interested community.
