On 24/9, Dallas police reported a sniper climbed onto the roof of a building near the local Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office and opened fire.
Dallas officials announced on social media that at least one person died and two were injured in the shooting. Local media reported that among the victims was a detainee at the ICE facility.
"Initial information suggests the shooting may have been carried out by a sniper," acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated the shooter later died by suicide.
Texas police reported receiving a call about the shooting at the ICE office in west Dallas around 7:30 a.m. The shooter, a white male, was found dead on the roof of a nearby building, according to WFAA television. His identity has not been released.

ICE Deputy Director Madison Sheahan said the shooting at the Dallas facility was "very complex," and the motive remains undetermined. She added that no ICE personnel were injured in the attack, and the facility remained on lockdown.
"While the motive for the shooting is unknown, we know that ICE law enforcement personnel face unprecedented violence. This must stop," Noem said.
This is the third shooting at an ICE facility in Texas this year. On 4/7, a group attacked the Prairieland Detention Center near Fort Worth, and a local police officer was shot in the neck but survived. Over 10 people were charged in connection with the attack.
A few days later, a 27-year-old man with a rifle targeted a border patrol facility in McAllen, Texas. Two officers and a border patrol agent were injured before the gunman was shot and killed.
On 25/8, 36-year-old Bratton Dean Wilkinson arrived at the Dallas ICE facility and claimed to "have a bomb in his backpack." Police dispatched a bomb squad and apprehended the suspect, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
