The prime minister has investments of about USD 20 million and declared an income exceeding USD 56,000 last year. His family's wealth is primarily tied to Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction, a construction company that has secured major government contracts for decades, including Suvarnabhumi Airport and the parliament building.
Other declared assets include land titles, 4 luxury cars, 22 watches, and a collection of valuables.
The 58-year-old Anutin was elected Thailand's 32nd prime minister by parliament on 5/9. In addition to leading the government, he will also serve as the minister of the interior.
Speaking to the press after taking office, Anutin pledged that his government would be dedicated and work tirelessly. Thailand is likely to dissolve parliament within the next 4 months, paving the way for a general election.
