Around 2 PM on 17/9, the 911 emergency dispatch center received a call about a violent attack in York County, central Pennsylvania. Police immediately responded to Haar Road in Spring Grove, an area characterized by small farms and expansive agricultural land.
NBC News, citing three sources familiar with the matter, reported that the officers were shot while serving an arrest warrant. The suspect was killed by police. The two surviving officers were seriously injured but are now in stable condition.
"I truly don't have the words to express the sorrow felt by this community", Pennsylvania State Police Colonel Christopher Paris said.

Witness Dave Miller said he was driving home when he had to pull over to make way for police and heard gunshots. "I looked to my right and saw police inside a barn, it looked like they were looking for someone," he recounted. "And then I heard gunshots, someone was down on the ground".
Miller heard approximately 30 gunshots. "The shots just kept coming, more than I could count," he said.

Officials have not released details about the incident. According to Attorney General Pam Bondi, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) were on the scene assisting local officials.
"Violence against law enforcement is a scourge on our society and will never be tolerated," Bondi wrote on X.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro offered condolences to the officers' families. He called it "a tragic, devastating day" for York County and the entire state.
Nearly seven months earlier, another York County police officer, Andrew W. Duarte of the West York Borough Police Department, was killed while responding to a hostage situation at a hospital.
