Train shears car's front in California, driver survives

An SUV drifted onto railway tracks in Bakersfield, California, resulting in its front being sheared off by a passing train, though the 18-year-old driver escaped serious injury.

A video, released on 26/4 by NY Post, captured a dramatic incident last weekend at a railway crossing in Bakersfield, California. The footage shows a black SUV driving past a safety barrier and onto the tracks, where a passing train sheared off its front, sending debris flying.

Officials later revealed that the 18-year-old female driver appeared to experience a medical emergency while behind the wheel. This caused her vehicle to lose control and drift directly into the path of the oncoming train.

Witness Blake Blanton recounted the tense moments leading up to the collision. "I turned down my radio and thought something was wrong," he stated. "I immediately honked my horn and told my wife to call 911." He observed the SUV slowly drifting as the train approached.

After the train passed, Blanton, realizing it was safe, rushed to the scene to offer assistance. "I thought, what if that was my own child?" he explained. "I have children, so I just rushed over as fast as I could." His wife, a nurse, helped keep the victim conscious until emergency responders arrived.

Despite the significant impact, the young woman sustained no serious injuries. Authorities have not yet released her identity.
