"This wasn't a mere coincidence; it was sabotage, three separate incidents at the United Nations. They should be ashamed of themselves. I've sent a copy of this message to the UN Secretary-General and demand an immediate investigation," Donald Trump posted on Truth Social on 24/9.
In the irate post, Trump stated that when he arrived at the UN headquarters to deliver his speech on 23/9, there were issues with the escalator, the teleprompter, and the sound system. He emphasized that these were not isolated incidents but three separate problems.
Regarding the escalator suddenly stopping as he and his wife were ascending, the former president said it could have been "a real catastrophe." "Thankfully, Melania and I didn't fall face-first onto the sharp edges of the steps," he added.
Trump also complained that the teleprompter during his UN address "went dark for the first 15 minutes" and the hall's sound system "was completely cut off."
The former president called for preserving the security footage of the escalator area, adding that the Secret Service is involved in the investigation. The UN has not yet responded to Trump's latest statement.
However, on 23/9, the UN explained that the escalator stoppage might have been caused by a White House videographer accidentally pressing the escalator's safety button. The teleprompter used during Trump's speech was also operated by White House staff.
