On 26/6, former US President Donald Trump hosted an event at the White House, urging Republican senators to vote on the One Big Beautiful Event spending and tax relief bill before the July 4th recess.
According to the White House, the guests were everyday Americans who would benefit from the bill: truck drivers, firefighters, law enforcement officers, healthcare workers, and service industry employees who rely on tips.
Among them was a waitress from Wisconsin. She explained her financial struggles and suggested that the government "not tax tips" while Trump was dining at a Las Vegas restaurant during his 2024 campaign.
"That's the best thing I've ever heard", Trump said, asking her to repeat it.
"A legend was born that day", Trump continued, explaining that the conversation sparked a pivotal campaign idea that contributed to his landslide victory as a Republican candidate in Nevada.
The former president asserted that this policy, along with other tax cuts, would save people like the waitress thousands of USD annually, allowing them to support their families and pursue their dreams.
