"They say aspirin helps thin the blood, and I certainly don't want thick blood flowing into my heart. I want thin blood to circulate easily through my heart. Sounds reasonable, right?", US President Donald Trump said in an interview published by the Wall Street Journal, admitting he has been taking the medication at a higher dose than prescribed by his doctor.
Sean Barbabella, President Trump's personal physician, stated that Trump takes 325 mg of aspirin daily to prevent cardiovascular disease.
Mayo Clinic, a prominent US medical center, states that daily aspirin use can reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke in individuals over 60, with the lowest common dose being 81 mg. This means Trump is taking aspirin at 4 times the usual dose.

The US President admitted doctors advised him to reduce the dose, but he refused to change because he has maintained this medication habit for the past 25 years. "I'm a little superstitious", he said.
Trump, 79, is the second oldest person to serve as US President, after his predecessor Joe Biden. His health recently drew attention due to bruises on his hands and the need for imaging tests.
The White House explained the bruises were due to Trump shaking too many hands. Doctor Barbabella said the medical team initially considered MRI or CT scans for the US President, but ultimately chose the latter option to "rule out any cardiac concerns". He added that the results showed nothing abnormal.
Trump expressed regret for undergoing the imaging tests. "I would feel much better if I hadn't done that, because it seemed to suggest 'is something wrong?'. However, in reality, nothing was wrong", the US President stated.
The US leader reportedly sleeps very little and sometimes closes his eyes during recent events. Aside from playing golf, he does not exercise. "I don't like it, because they are boring. Walking or running on a machine for hours like some people is not for me", he stated.
