"You must win the midterm elections, because if we do not win, they will find a way to impeach me. I will be impeached," US President Donald Trump told Republican members at a meeting in Washington on 6/1.
President Trump urged Republican Party members to set aside differences and promote his policies on gender, healthcare, and election integrity to voters upset about rising living costs.
"People say that the presidential winner will lose the midterm elections. I wish you could explain to me why they think that," the US leader added.

Democratic Representative Maxine Waters previously hinted that the campaign to raid and arrest Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife could be grounds for Trump's impeachment. "I am considering impeachment. Even if the Republican Party refuses to act, Democrats cannot remain silent or passive in the face of extreme actions from the administration," Representative Waters said.
The Republican Party is intensifying efforts to reach voters ahead of the midterm elections, where Democrats need to gain just three seats to regain control of the House of Representatives. Republicans also need to maintain their majority in the Senate to provide a solid foundation for supporting President Trump's policies.
Trump was impeached two times during his first term. In 2019, he was impeached by Democrats on charges of pressuring Ukraine to investigate his opponent Joe Biden. In 2021, he was impeached for allegedly urging supporters to march on Capitol Hill, where the 6/1/2021 riot occurred.
Both impeachment attempts were filed in the US House of Representatives, controlled by Democrats. However, Trump was acquitted both times by the Senate, where Republicans held a majority.
