The US Embassy in Vietnam announced today that Jennifer Wicks and her family arrived in Hanoi on 1/7.
Wicks "looks forward to working closely with Vietnamese partners to advance US priorities, strengthen the two countries' Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and expand opportunities for greater prosperity, security, and cooperation between the two nations," the embassy stated.

Wicks was nominated as US ambassador to Vietnam by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the Senate on 18/5. She was sworn into office in Washington, D.C., on 15/6.
According to US protocol, after Senate confirmation, an ambassador travels to their assigned country to present credentials to the host nation's head of state to begin their term.
Wicks is a career civil servant with nearly 31 years of experience in the US government, according to the "Statement of Competency for Chief of Mission Nominees" released by the US Department of State on 29/10/2025.
In her opening statement during her Senate Foreign Relations Committee confirmation hearing in December 2025, Wicks reaffirmed President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio's commitment to viewing Vietnam as one of the most important US partners in the region.
