On 28/1, US media released a video from 13/1, showing a man identified as nurse Alex Pretti, along with protesters, confronting federal agents on the streets of Minneapolis.
The video depicts the man kicking a moving federal agent vehicle, damaging its taillight. The vehicle then stopped, and agents exited, pinning him to the ground.
CBS analysis suggests the man had a handgun tucked into his waistband. It remains unclear whether he was arrested after the altercation.
A Department of Homeland Security official stated that investigators have viewed the video and are conducting further analysis.
Steve Schleicher, attorney for the Pretti family, stated that one week before the nurse's fatal shooting, "he was brutally assaulted by a group of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents."
"Nothing that occurred previously can justify Pretti's fatal shooting on 24/1," attorney Schleicher emphasized.
Pretti is the second white US citizen fatally shot since federal authorities intensified immigration sweeps in Minnesota in 12/2025. He is also the 6th person to die in the nationwide crackdown initiated by President Donald Trump.
A series of protests have erupted across the US, opposing what many consider "excessive" activities by ICE agents.
