During a press conference on 31/7, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Pham Thu Hang addressed questions about a video circulating on social media, purportedly showing Vietnamese security forces clashing with Nigerian citizens in relation to their deportation.

The spokesperson confirmed that these foreign nationals were residing illegally and had violated Vietnamese law. Law enforcement agencies took decisive action in accordance with domestic and international legal regulations.

"As in other countries, foreigners entering, exiting, and residing in Vietnam must fully comply with Vietnamese regulations and laws," Hang said.

The spokesperson also affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of facilitating the entry, exit, and residence of foreigners for study, work, investment, market research, and tourism, thereby contributing to Vietnam's socio-economic development and people-to-people exchanges.
