Vietnam and China to strengthen strategic development connectivity

Chairman Zhao Leji proposed Vietnam and China strengthen strategic development connectivity during talks with National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks this afternoon with Chairman Zhao Leji of the National People's Congress as part of his official visit to China. The two leaders agreed to maintain high-level exchanges, enhancing strategic trust between Vietnam and China. This aims to create a more solid political foundation for cooperation across various channels and fields.

The two countries will promote more balanced and sustainable trade cooperation, high-quality investment, and synchronized, modern railway connectivity. They will also boost scientific and technological cooperation, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Vietnam and China will also enhance local cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and cooperation in education, culture, and tourism. They will jointly manage the land border effectively, better control and resolve disagreements, and maintain stability and peace at sea.

Zhao Leji proposed strengthening strategic development connectivity between the two countries, particularly in the digital economy, green economy, artificial intelligence, smart border gates, and cross-border economic zones. He also called for accelerating the construction of railway lines connecting the two nations and linking with the China-Europe railway.

China welcomes increasing exports of Vietnamese agricultural products to China and supports Vietnam in effectively utilizing trade fair mechanisms organized by China.

Beijing welcomes more Vietnamese students studying in China and hopes both sides enhance coordination at international and regional forums. They also aim to cooperate well in global development, security, civilization, and governance initiatives.

The two leaders later co-chaired the second session of the Cooperation Committee between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National People's Congress of China. Discussions focused on strategic development connectivity, science and technology, social governance, and strengthening social foundations.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that developing relations with China is a consistent policy, an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority in Vietnam's independent, self-reliant, resilient, multilateral, and diversified foreign policy.

Prime Minister Li Qiang affirmed that China always considers Vietnam a priority in its overall neighborhood diplomacy policy. He stated China is ready to promote the increasingly developing, profound, and substantive relations between the two Parties and two countries.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man is on an official visit to China from 11-15/10. This is his first visit to China in his current capacity.
