During a meeting on 19/9 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian House Speaker Johari bin Abdul expressed confidence that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man's official visit would boost cooperation between the two legislatures. He said it would contribute to the effective implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership and the success of the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly General Assembly (AIPA-46).
Both sides agreed on the need to further strengthen political trust and facilitate economic, trade, and investment cooperation to reach the $18 billion trade target. They emphasized a more balanced approach, focusing on potential areas such as halal products, renewable and green energy, digital transformation, agriculture, tourism, and education and training, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two countries agreed to strengthen maritime cooperation and collaborate effectively in addressing illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. They aim to create conditions for the EU to lift the yellow card imposed on Vietnam's seafood industry. Vietnam and Malaysia will also increase people-to-people exchanges, especially among younger generations.
The Vietnamese National Assembly and the Malaysian Parliament will continue to work closely together, supporting each other at multilateral forums such as AIPA, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF). This collaboration will contribute to maintaining peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
