Vietnam stands with AIPA to realize ASEAN's aspirations

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man addressed the AIPA-46 plenary session, affirming Vietnam's continued collaboration with AIPA to build ASEAN's future.

Speaking at the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-46) plenary session in Malaysia this afternoon, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized AIPA and its member parliaments' pioneering role in building a future of equal development opportunities and shared prosperity for all ASEAN citizens.

The session, chaired by the Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives and President of AIPA-46, was attended by representatives of member parliaments, observers, and AIPA's invited guests and partner organizations.

Highlighting 2025 as a year of significant anniversaries, including the 30th anniversary of Vietnam joining ASEAN and AIPA, Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed the Vietnamese National Assembly's commitment to working alongside AIPA to turn ASEAN's vision and aspirations into reality. He emphasized building an inclusive, sustainable, resilient, innovative, dynamic, and truly people-centered community.

Given the rapidly evolving and complex global and regional landscape, Chairman Man proposed three priority areas for AIPA's future focus.

First, AIPA should promote regional cooperation by acting as a bridge and encouraging diverse social groups and stakeholders to contribute to the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.

Second, AIPA should lead in developing institutions and policies to implement regional commitments and agreements, particularly in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

Third, AIPA should actively strengthen the social foundation for regional cooperation by fostering and promoting a sense of community and identity through enhanced communication, cultural and educational exchange, tourism, and interactive activities.

He also called for actively expanding and deepening external relations to consolidate ASEAN's central role in regional and global connectivity and cooperation.
