Vietnam values traditional friendship with Belarus

President Luong Cuong affirmed Vietnam's commitment to its enduring friendship with Belarus and expressed a desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

On the morning of 1/9, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong received Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus, Igor Sergeenko, who was visiting Vietnam for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on 2/9, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

President Luong Cuong expressed his appreciation for the support the people of the Soviet Union, including Belarus, provided to Vietnam during its struggle for independence and national reunification, as well as in its current national development.

He emphasized Vietnam's continued commitment to its traditional friendship with Belarus and expressed hope for further bilateral cooperation in areas where Belarus excels and Vietnam has needs, such as science and technology, industry, and agriculture.

The president suggested that the Belarusian Parliament support increased contact, exchange, and cooperation at high and all levels, especially through parliamentary channels, to help create a favorable legal framework for implementing agreements.

He conveyed a letter from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko congratulating Vietnam on the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. President Luong Cuong invited President Lukashenko for a state visit to Vietnam in the near future.

Sergeenko expressed confidence that the visa exemption agreement signed earlier this year would create significant opportunities to promote bilateral cooperation, including in culture and tourism. The two leaders agreed on the need to finalize the 2025-2027 Cooperation Development Roadmap and to enhance coordination at international and regional forums.
