Successive price reductions over recent months, through registration fee promotions, positioned the Mazda CX-5's starting price at 650-670 million dong, among the lowest in its segment. This strategy has kept the locally assembled Japanese model, produced by Thaco, highly appealing, even with a new generation set to launch in late 2026.
As of september, the CX-5's cumulative sales reached 11,893 units, averaging about 1,300 units per month. This consistent performance distinguishes Mazda's offering, as no other model in the segment maintains such stable sales.
The CX-5 established a significant lead over its closest competitor, the Ford Territory, by over 2,800 units. In comparison, the Kia Sportage, another model distributed by Thaco, recorded nine-month sales that only surpassed the CX-5's monthly average by approximately 600 units.
Sales for all C-segment CUV models grew compared to the same period in 2025. The VinFast VF 7 registered the largest increase, nearly 52%, primarily because of its lower sales volume in 2025.
The Mitsubishi Destinator emerged as a segment newcomer in 2026. Its sales of nearly 7,500 units secured the 4th position in the segment. The Destinator offers a more modest selection of versions, with two, compared to rivals like the CX-5 with six versions and the Territory with four.

The Hyundai Tucson, a top-selling model for Hyundai in Vietnam alongside the Creta, ranked 5th in the C-segment CUV segment. This Korean brand's product saw a 13,3% increase in sales compared to the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, the Honda CR-V and Kia Sportage continued to be the slowest sellers after nine months of 2026.
The entire C-segment CUV market sold 50,398 units during the first three quarters of 2026, marking a 36,5% increase from last year. The CX-5 led market share with about 23,6%. The Ford Territory and VinFast VF 7 were close contenders, accounting for 17,9% and 17,7% respectively.
