The landscape of the B-segment CUV market remained largely unchanged through the end of QIII. The VinFast VF 6 continued to build an almost insurmountable lead over its gasoline-powered competitors.
According to the chart, the VinFast model held the top sales position for the past nine months. Although monthly sales dipped due to supply chain issues, trailing rivals such as the Toyota Yaris Cross and Mitsubishi Xforce had no opportunity to overtake the VF 6. The Vietnamese model's sales lead over its two Japanese competitors was over 7,000 and 10,000 units, respectively.
The Yaris Cross had a slow start in 2026 but gradually returned to a growth trajectory from March, maintaining its second-place position in the overall segment and leading the internal combustion engine sub-segment until September. The Xforce, the best-selling gasoline model in the segment in 2025, currently ranks third, trailing its compatriot rival by approximately 3,000 units.
The remainder of the segment consists of models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda HR-V, and Mazda CX-3. Their sales rankings were almost unchanged compared to the same period in 2025, with the exception of the Seltos. Thanks to an increase of approximately 80% compared to the same period in 2025, the Kia model climbed to 4th place. Restructuring its product line and lowering prices were key drivers for the Seltos to improve its appeal at dealerships.
Total segment sales over the past nine months reached 60,824 vehicles, an increase of 30% compared to the same period in 2025. This represents the highest sales volume across all mainstream segments in the Vietnamese automotive industry. The VF 6 led the way with over 20,000 units sold, capturing over 33% of the overall segment market share.

High sales growth indicates continued customer demand for small, high-ground-clearance vehicles primarily used in urban areas, with starting prices around 600 million Vietnamese dong or less. Continuous promotions by manufacturers, often in the tens of millions of Vietnamese dong, made many B-segment CUV models more accessible and partly captured market share from B-segment sedans in a similar price range.
The B-segment CUV segment currently brings together key models from various manufacturers, including: Toyota's Yaris Cross, Mitsubishi's Xforce, Kia's Seltos, and Hyundai's Creta. While the VF 6 is the best-seller, its contribution to VinFast's overall market share is not as significant as the VF 3 or Limo Green.
The sales figures mentioned do not fully reflect the entire B-segment CUV segment. This is because many models do not have publicly disclosed sales data from their distributors, such as: the BYD Atto 2, Geely Coolray, Omoda C5, and MG ZS. Specifically for the ZS, MG's best-selling model in Vietnam, a new generation is expected in October.
