The traffic incident occurred at the Nguyen Van Thoai - Mai Thuc Lan intersection in An Hai ward, where a motorcycle, emerging from a house at the corner, ran a red light. As it reached the middle of the intersection, it was struck by a car, with the rider thrown onto the car's hood. The rider's injuries were not immediately clear.
Driving safety analysis: the situation captured in the video represents a typical 'blind spot' accident, common at intersections where both drivers have obstructed views.

As seen in the image, less than one second before the collision, the view of both the motorcycle rider who ran the red light (number 1) and the taxi driver (number 3) was obstructed by a passenger car (number 2). This brief interval was insufficient for either driver to perceive the other vehicle's presence and react. Studies worldwide indicate that even at speeds below 50 km/h, a driver requires at least 10-15 meters of road to recognize and respond to a developing situation.
Therefore, when approaching an intersection, drivers must reduce speed, carefully observe traffic signals and all directions of traffic flow, and avoid speeding or reckless driving. Additionally, it is crucial to maintain a safe following distance and be prepared to handle unexpected situations, such as other vehicles running a red light or emerging from side roads.
According to Decree 168 on road traffic penalties, a motorcycle running a red light and causing a traffic accident incurs a fine of 10-14 million VND and a deduction of 10 points from the driver's license.
