Hyundai Thanh Cong, the distributor for the Korean brand in Vietnam, is recalling a total of 13,620 Tucson vehicles to address a defect, starting 29/6. The affected vehicles were assembled domestically between 2/10/2024 and 2/6/2026.
According to the Korean automaker, the front camera control software for the front collision avoidance assist (fca) system in Hyundai Tucson vehicles has collision risk prediction parameters set more sensitively than the optimal design. In certain traffic situations, this can cause the fca system to issue warnings and activate braking earlier than intended, potentially leading to an uncomfortable driving experience for users.
Hyundai's solution involves updating the control software on the affected vehicles. This aims to fine-tune the fca system's operational parameters, allowing the warning and braking assist functions to operate more harmoniously in real-world driving conditions.
Authorized Hyundai Thanh Cong dealers will receive vehicles and fix the defect free of charge for owners.

The fca system in the Hyundai Tucson is designed to help detect and monitor vehicles ahead. It also identifies motorcycles, pedestrians, and cyclists to provide warnings and braking assistance when necessary. This feature is common in higher trim levels of C-segment CUV models in Vietnam.
While emergency braking has helped many drivers avoid unexpected collisions in real-world use, an overly sensitive system can also surprise drivers when the vehicle suddenly brakes sharply without an actual imminent danger. This is particularly risky if another vehicle is closely following, as sudden braking could lead to a rear-end collision.
The Tucson sold in Vietnam is currently the 4th generation model. It is produced at the Hyundai Thanh Cong joint venture plant in Ninh Binh.
In Vietnam, the Hyundai Tucson is one of two best-selling models for the Korean automaker, alongside the Creta. The Tucson is currently available in 5 versions, priced from 789 million VND to 989 million VND.
As of May, cumulative sales for the Tucson reached 3,796 vehicles, ranking 5th in its segment, behind the Mazda CX-5, Ford Territory, Mitsubishi Destinator, and VinFast VF 7.
