Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has announced a significant leadership change, appointing Le Van Khien as the acting chairman of its board of directors and legal representative, effective 17/3. The company reported this senior personnel change to the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) on 18/3.
This appointment follows the dismissal of former chairman Vu The Phiet, who was arrested earlier this month on corruption charges. Mr. Khien, born in 1973, represents 11,22% of the state capital in ACV. He has served as a member of the company's board of directors for nearly five years before assuming his current acting role.
On 5/3, ACV received notification from the Investigation Police Agency under the Ministry of Public Security regarding the temporary detention of Mr. Phiet. He faces charges of "violation of bidding regulations causing particularly serious consequences" and "receiving money to facilitate contractors winning bids".
Nguyen Tien Viet, a board member and deputy general director overseeing ACV's executive board, who also directs the Long Thanh International Airport Project Management Board, was arrested alongside Mr. Phiet. The Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negativity decided on the morning of 18/3 to place the case, involving "violation of bidding regulations causing serious consequences; bribery; receiving bribes" at ACV and related units, under its direct monitoring and guidance.
ACV manages and operates 23 airports nationwide, including 11 international airports. The corporation is also the investor for the Long Thanh International Airport project, with an estimated total investment of 336,630 billion dong. ACV's main revenue sources include passenger services, as well as landing and takeoff fees, ground handling services, and passenger security. The company's charter capital exceeds 35,828 billion dong, with the Ministry of Finance representing the state capital, holding 95,41%. According to the consolidated financial report for Q4/2025, the construction in progress for Long Thanh Airport amounted to 34,190 billion dong by the end of last year, an increase of more than 21,400 billion dong from the beginning of the year.
