Agribank partners with Tax Department to support business households in transitioning to declaration-based tax

Agribank signed a cooperation agreement with the Tax Department (Ministry of Finance) on 3/12 to implement solutions supporting business households in familiarizing themselves with the new tax declaration process and complying with legal regulations.

The agreement outlines several solutions: support for opening accounts and electronic tax payments; integrating payments with electronic invoices; guidance on using point-of-sale (POS) machines; organizing direct consultation points at local facilities; and extensive communication campaigns to help business households understand and adapt to the new declaration process.

To help business households meet new tax management requirements, Agribank proactively developed an integrated solution package. This package includes electronic invoices, electronic payments, digital signatures, and sales management software, all integrated within the bank's application. On 3/12, Agribank also conducted internal training across its entire system, while many branches signed coordination agreements with provincial and city tax authorities.

Mai Son, Deputy Director of the Tax Department, lauded the solution package as a significant advancement. He noted its integration of sales management and tax declaration operations within a single, closed platform. This allows business households to use it confidently, eliminating the need for multiple separate software installations. The initiative is expected to reduce errors, enhance transparency, and improve the experience for business households during the transition.

Currently, Vietnam has about 3,6 million business households, with 2,2 million subject to tax management. According to the Tax Department, the transition from a lump-sum tax to a declaration-based tax system is a necessary step. This move aims to increase transparency, standardize business operations, and expand access to formal financial services for this economic sector.

In this context, Agribank's extensive network of over 2,200 branches and transaction offices, predominantly located in rural and remote areas, is identified as a vital support channel for business households to access the new tax model. The bank leverages its deep understanding of local areas, broad customer base, and ability to provide direct guidance to individual households, particularly in regions with limited technological infrastructure.

To Huy Vu, Chairman of Agribank's Board of Members, stated that the cooperation with the Tax Department aligns with the bank's strategic direction. This direction involves partnering with the State to promote digital transformation, administrative procedure reform, and the expansion of cashless payments.

"Supporting business households in transitioning their tax model is a core task for the Agribank system in the current period," he affirmed.

To ensure effective cooperation at the local level, the Chairman of Agribank's Board of Members instructed branches nationwide to coordinate closely with local Tax Departments. This coordination will facilitate training, guidance, and direct support for taxpayers.

"Our staff must act as 'digital transformation ambassadors' and 'Agribank Culture ambassadors'," To Huy Vu emphasized. "They must maintain an exemplary, dedicated, and approachable work style, proactively providing clear explanations to help people understand, implement, and feel secure throughout the transition process."

Agribank currently manages over 3,000 business household customers. To meet the new legal requirements regarding electronic invoices, the bank has also proactively developed a comprehensive solution package tailored for these households.

Earlier, on 1/12, Agribank and VNPAY signed an agreement to implement a digital transformation solution specifically for business households and small businesses. This solution encompasses electronic invoices, digital signatures, sales software, and cloud storage. In addition to these technological solutions, the bank offers free opening and maintenance of payment accounts, provides special account numbers, offers free OTT balance notifications via Agribank Plus, and includes preferential credit packages to support business households in transitioning their operating models.

The bank stated it will maximize its resources, technology platform, and extensive nationwide network to support the reform, development, and modernization of the Tax sector. This initiative aims to foster rapid and sustainable growth of the private economy, positioning it as a key driver of national development.
