An Post has introduced a new cross-border parcel delivery and returns service designed to simplify the movement of goods between Ireland and the UK for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
This service was developed in collaboration with Royal Mail, aiming to help Irish retailers expand their e-commerce operations in the UK market.
The direct delivery service to the UK is designed to address the customs and compliance challenges that arose after Brexit (when the UK left the European Union), which complicated trade for Irish businesses selling to UK consumers.

According to An Post, the service offers a comprehensive integrated solution, including pre-payment of customs fees, parcel delivery within three days, and end-to-end tracking.
Enterprise Ireland estimates that 97% of Irish businesses plan to expand into new markets in the coming year, with the UK remaining a top priority destination.
Speaking at the service launch, David McRedmond stated: "Trade between the UK and Ireland is central to the Irish economy. This direct delivery solution to the UK reopens market access for businesses facing challenges due to Brexit."
He also mentioned that building new infrastructure will make it easier for over 400,000 Irish SMEs to trade with the UK.
Meanwhile, Kara Owen noted that this initiative will help strengthen cross-border trade between the two nations.
An Post is Ireland's national postal service, providing mail, parcel delivery, logistics, and e-commerce solutions both domestically and internationally, playing a vital role in the country's trade infrastructure.
