According to a joint announcement, Bahri and Hadeed will discuss leveraging Bahri's fleet capabilities and services to meet Hadeed's maritime iron ore transportation needs. Among the topics considered is the potential development of new specialized vessels, designed to meet Hadeed's specific technical and operational requirements, expected to be built in Saudi Arabia.
This collaboration is a significant step in strengthening Saudi Arabia's national maritime transport ecosystem, according to Bahri's chief executive officer, Ahmed Al-Subaey. He affirmed Bahri's commitment to supporting supply chains and providing stable, efficient transport solutions for its partners. Meanwhile, Hadeed's chief executive officer, Abdulqader Al-Mubarak, emphasized that the company is completing its operational and logistics ecosystem. The partnership with Bahri is viewed as a supportive measure to ensure specialized maritime transport solutions, tailored to production needs and contributing to increased industrial efficiency.
This initiative follows Bahri's previous order last october for six crane-equipped bulk carriers from the International Maritime Industries (IMI) shipyard. That order marked the first large-scale shipbuilding project executed domestically for the company.
The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri), established in 1978, is a Saudi Arabian state-owned shipping company. It is currently one of the largest shipping companies in the Middle East, operating in crude oil, chemicals, dry bulk, and logistics. The company owns a large fleet serving global maritime routes, playing a significant role in Saudi Arabia's supply chain and maritime industry development strategy. Bahri also participates in shipbuilding, logistics, and transportation projects for the energy and heavy industries.
Saudi Iron and Steel Company (Hadeed) is one of the leading steel manufacturers in Saudi Arabia and a subsidiary of SABIC Group. The company produces long steel, flat steel, and steel products for construction, industry, and infrastructure. Hadeed owns large-scale steelmaking complexes that utilize modern technology, meeting domestic demand and exporting to many regional markets. The company holds an important role in the industrial supply chain, contributing to Saudi Arabia's industrial development and economic diversification strategy.
