Plain gold rings at SJC also rose to 171,2 - 174,2 million VND per tael this morning. At Phu Nhuan Jewelry Company (PNJ), plain rings were listed at 171 - 174 million VND, while DOJI Gold and Gems Group (DOJI) announced prices around 172 - 175 million VND per tael.
The difference between domestic and international gold prices has narrowed significantly recently. This morning, the gap between the two markets fluctuated around 21 million VND per tael.
News regarding the possibility of a second round of negotiations between the US and Iran has helped the gold market improve. Recently, gold prices have been under pressure as Middle East conflicts have driven up inflation, making central banks hesitant to lower interest rates.
Precious metal prices on the international market fluctuated sharply yesterday. Spot gold prices at one point reached 4,870 USD before falling to 4,825 USD per ounce. Converted at Vietcombank's selling exchange rate, the current world gold price is equivalent to 153,3 million VND per tael.
Similar to gold, silver bar and ingot prices also rose by 3 - 3,1 million VND per tael this morning, equivalent to 80 - 82,7 million VND, a one-week high.
Currently, the supply of gold bars and plain gold rings from major brands remains limited. SJC recently stopped selling gold bars to online registered customers.
Recently, the company announced that its official Facebook fanpage was attacked and disabled, and many fake pages have appeared to scam customers. SJC affirmed it has no current activity on Facebook, advising customers not to accept deposits, not to request advance transfers, and not to transact outside its system. Customers should be aware and cautious of scams when receiving requests for personal information or money transfers from current fanpages.
On the foreign exchange market, the USD Index, measuring the greenback's strength, decreased by 1% since the beginning of the week to 98,16 points. Domestically, Vietcombank traded USD around 26,108 - 26,358 VND per USD, a slight decrease compared to yesterday. Foreign exchange points in Ho Chi Minh City (TP HCM) traded dollars around 26,860 - 26,910 VND per USD.
