FedEx has deployed 17 new electric vehicles in Japan, bringing its total electric fleet in the country to 26. Mitsubishi Fuso eCanter and Isuzu ELF electric models are currently used for parcel pickup and delivery operations in Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Osaka. Each vehicle has a payload of 1,5 tons, expected to reduce approximately 3,3 tons of tailpipe emissions annually compared to equivalent diesel trucks.
Kei Alan Kubota, Managing Director of FedEx Japan, stated that these new electric vehicles help reduce emissions on high-density urban routes while maintaining the speed and quality of service customers expect. He added, "We will continue to accelerate the adoption of low-emission technologies and contribute to improving air quality for local communities."
