Jingdong Property and Abu Dhabi partner to establish Middle East logistics hub

The new logistics center, developed by Jingdong Property and Abu Dhabi Airports, will integrate automation technology and digital warehouse management to offer modern warehousing and transportation services.

On 7/7, Jingdong Property (JDP), the infrastructure investment and management platform of JD.com, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Abu Dhabi Airports in Abu Dhabi. The agreement aims to develop and operate a state-of-the-art logistics center within the Abu Dhabi Airport Free Zone (ADAFZ). This project marks JDP's first venture in the Middle East, representing a significant step in the company's global expansion strategy.

With a planned construction area of approximately 70,000 m2, the logistics center is poised to become a crucial transportation gateway, catering to the growing cross-border e-commerce demands in the region. The project will also enhance air cargo capacity and distribution services across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Elena Sorlini, CEO and managing director of Abu Dhabi Airports, stated that this joint venture aligns perfectly with Abu Dhabi's long-term vision of becoming a global trade and logistics hub. "The combination of JDP's advanced infrastructure capabilities and integrated services with our strategic location and air transport expertise will establish a sustainable logistics ecosystem. This will attract investment, create high-quality jobs, and strengthen Abu Dhabi's role in the global supply chain," she said.

Cao Dong, CEO of Jingdong Property, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with ADAFZ to develop high-standard warehousing projects within the ADAFZ Logistics Park. This agreement marks a significant milestone for both parties. "We appreciate the trust and support from our partner and are committed to providing our experience and resources to support the development of the UAE's logistics infrastructure and e-commerce capabilities. In the future, we look forward to expanding our cooperation, increasing investment, and working together towards long-term, sustainable growth," he stated.

The project will feature advanced automation systems and a digital warehouse management platform, leveraging cutting-edge technology from JD.com. The center will provide integrated warehousing services and value-added solutions tailored to diverse business needs. It is expected to be a strong foundation for businesses inside and outside the region to reduce logistics costs, shorten delivery times, and mitigate operational risks when expanding into the Middle East market.

The company plays a vital role in building a global logistics network, supporting international trade, and promoting globalization for businesses of all sizes.

Through this partnership with Abu Dhabi Airports, JDP not only expands its presence in the Middle East but also contributes to the region's economic diversification goals. The project is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and enhance the UAE's competitiveness as a global logistics and e-commerce hub.

JD.com, also known as Jingdong, has evolved from an e-commerce platform into a leading technology and services group with a focus on its supply chain. The company operates across various sectors, from retail, technology, logistics, healthcare, and real estate to insurance and international business. JD.com currently ranks 47th on the Fortune Global 500 list and is the largest retailer by revenue in China.

Jingdong Property is a modern infrastructure asset investment and management platform. As a pillar within JD.com's supply chain ecosystem, JDP has the ability to integrate business resources and a deep understanding of logistics and the flow of goods. The company aims to serve consumer needs and drive local economic transformation through smart, comprehensive, and locally adapted infrastructure solutions.
