Man wins 35 billion VND Vietlott jackpot using grandson's birth date

A man in Tan Uyen, Ho Chi Minh City, has won a 35 billion VND jackpot with a 30,000 VND lottery ticket, using a number sequence derived from his own and his grandson's birth dates.

The man, a retiree, received his 35 billion VND Vietlott jackpot yesterday at the Vietnam Computerized Lottery Company branch in Ho Chi Minh City. He shared that he frequently buys lottery tickets, plays Chinese chess, and tends to ornamental plants as a way to relax.

The winning ticket, bearing the sequence 02-04-08-15-17-28, was purchased at a sales point in Tan Uyen Ward, Binh Duong. This sequence secured the top prize in the Mega 6/45 drawing held half a month ago.

“I have a favorite set of numbers created from my grandson’s and my own birth dates,” he stated. The jackpot was valued at 35.2 billion VND, and he received 31.7 billion VND after tax deductions. He plans to use a portion of his winnings to support his family, assist his children, and contribute to charity.

Mega 6/45 is one of seven Vietlott products distributed via terminals and mobile phones. The probability of winning the jackpot for this product is one in 8.1 million tickets.

This year, Vietlott announced plans to introduce new distribution channels and enhance its existing products. The company has previously stated its aim to propose to the Ministry of Finance, which represents the 100% State-owned entity, the addition of Internet distribution channels.

Last year, Vietlott recorded a revenue of 9,686 billion VND, averaging approximately 26.5 billion VND daily. The company has not yet released its revenue targets for this year.
