Many millennials amass billion-dollar fortunes

The children of several tycoons, including Ho Hung Anh, Ngo Chi Dung, and Do Quang Hien, now hold assets exceeding 1,000 billion VND.

At the close of trading on 19/9, the VN-Index fell 6.5 points to 1,658 points. However, since the start of the year, the index has risen by almost 400 points, equivalent to nearly 31%. This 9-month stock market surge has boosted the assets of many investors and business owners.

In addition to renowned entrepreneurs like Pham Nhat Vuong, Do Quang Hien, Ho Hung Anh, and Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, the list of individuals with hundreds and thousands of billions of VND in assets now includes many millennials and Gen Z individuals. Among them are the children of Ho Hung Anh, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Techcombank, including Ho Anh Minh, Ho Thuy Anh, and Ho Minh Anh, who collectively hold tens of thousands of billions of VND.

Born in 1995, Ho Anh Minh is the eldest son of billionaire Ho Hung Anh. He currently owns 344.7 million TCB shares, with a total value exceeding 13,200 billion VND. In addition, according to Techcombank's semi-annual 2025 governance report, Anh Minh is the CEO and owns over 10% of Masterise Group Joint Stock Company. This company currently has a charter capital of 35,227 billion VND, meaning Anh Minh's stake could be worth over 3,500 billion VND.

Ho Thuy Anh, born in 2001, also owns 344.7 million TCB shares, giving her a fortune of over 13,200 billion VND. The youngest daughter, Ho Minh Anh, born in 2003, holds over 144 million Techcombank shares, valued at over 5,500 billion VND.

These millennial billionaires are largely children of leaders or shareholders of banks. Regulations stipulate that an individual can own no more than 5% of a credit institution's charter capital. Consequently, many bank owners have transferred share ownership to relatives to maintain control.

Nguyen Thien Huong Jenny, born in 1995, holds over 87 million ACB shares, worth approximately 2,200 billion VND. She is the daughter of Ngo Thu Thuy, Chairwoman of Au Lac Joint Stock Company and representative of a shareholder group at Asia Commercial Bank (ACB).

According to ACB's announcement, parties related to Ngo Thu Thuy hold 3.9% of the bank's capital. These related parties include her two children, Nguyen Thu Huong Jenny and Nguyen Duc Hieu Johnny, and her private company, Thien Huong International Education Village Joint Stock Company.

Ngo Thu Thuy's name is associated with Au Lac, a major private player in maritime transport, primarily transporting gasoline and oil. She was also a major shareholder of Eximbank.

Another young entrepreneur, Do Vinh Quang, son of Do Quang Hien, Chairman of SHB, currently holds 119 million SHB shares, worth over 2,100 billion VND. Born in 1995, Quang is also the Chairman of Hanoi Football Club and Vietravel Airlines.

At Orient Commercial Bank (OCB), Trinh Thi Mai Anh, Member of the Board of Directors, also holds assets nearing 1,000 billion VND with over 72.6 million OCB shares. Born in 1992, she is the daughter of Trinh Van Tuan, Chairman of OCB.

Mai Anh's two younger sisters, Trinh Mai Linh and Trinh Mai Van, also hold tens of millions of OCB shares, worth hundreds of billions of VND.

Born in 2002, Ngo Chi Trung Johnny's assets have reached over 2,100 billion VND, holding 70 million shares of Vietnam Prosperity Bank (VPBank). He is the son of Ngo Chi Dung, Chairman of VPBank.

Beyond banking, relatives of business owners in other sectors also possess significant wealth. Tran Vu Minh, son of billionaire Tran Dinh Long, Chairman of Hoa Phat, holds HPG shares worth over 5,100 billion VND.

The youngest chairman of a securities company, Nguyen Anh Duc, Chairman of DSC Securities, also has assets of around 3,000 billion VND. Born in 1995, he is the son of Nguyen Quoc Hoan, Chairman of Thanh An Group, and the grandson of Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of Thanh Cong Group (TC Group). TC Group is a prominent player in Vietnam's automotive industry, distributing and assembling Hyundai and Kia models. The group also operates in services, finance, and banking.

In addition to Vu Minh and Duc Anh, other millennials with hundreds and thousands of billions in assets include Tran Phuong Ngoc Ha, daughter of PNJ Chairwoman Cao Thi Ngoc Dung, and Dang Nguyen Quynh Anh, daughter of Kinh Bac City Group Chairman Dang Thanh Tam.
