MB offers '0 fee' for foreign currency remittances during Tet

Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) introduces a 'zero fee' promotion for receiving money from relatives abroad and supports conversion to VND on the MBBank app for Tet 2026, targeting priority customers.

MB's "Welcoming Tet 2026 - Complete Remittance Privileges" program, running from 16/12 to 28/2/2026, offers these benefits. A bank representative noted that millions of Vietnamese live and work overseas. Towards the year-end, remittances to relatives in Vietnam typically rise to cover spending, shopping, and Tet preparations.

This policy allows recipients to keep the full amount sent by relatives, as foreign currency remittances to MB accounts will no longer incur fees.

Beyond cost savings, MB aims to enhance the transaction experience during peak times. Customers can now complete the entire process, from opening a foreign currency account to converting funds to VND, directly through the MBBank app, eliminating the need for branch visits.

The bank states that customers without a foreign currency remittance account can open one online via the MBBank app in about one minute. The account activates instantly to receive funds. Users can then convert to VND at any time at the listed exchange rate, with funds credited immediately to their payment account.

An MB representative highlighted that simplifying procedures and digitizing the entire process enhances the user experience, removes geographical barriers, and ensures fast, secure, and cost-effective money transfers from abroad to Vietnam. MB anticipates this solution will ease pressure on physical transaction points during the year-end peak and empower customers with greater control over their Tet spending.
