Around 11:50 pm, customs officials at the Lao Cai International Border Gate and the Border Guard Station discovered 86 styrofoam boxes (40 x 60 cm) sealed with yellow tape and 120 burlap sacks hidden in a flower garden during a patrol of the isolated border area.
Upon inspection, authorities determined the goods, marked with foreign writing, were of unknown origin. The shipment included 7 tons of sausages, nearly 2.6 tons of unfertilized eggs, and 750 kg of pork belly.

The patrol questioned people in the surrounding area to identify the owner of the goods, but no one came forward.
A representative from Lao Cai International Border Gate customs explained the smugglers' tactic was to divide the undocumented goods into smaller portions to transport them from China into Vietnam, attempting to evade authorities.
Authorities have documented the incident and seized the entire shipment for processing according to regulations.
