Penske Logistics will introduce an artificial intelligence platform to help fleet owners, warehouse operators, freight brokers, and customers monitor shipment status in real time.
Developed by Augment, this AI platform is slated for official deployment by Penske following a successful 6-month pilot program. The new technology is expected to boost "track and trace" capabilities, providing customers with additional data sources on cargo status. The system will automatically initiate contact via calls, emails, or messages if traditional methods fail to update shipment status. Initially, the AI tool will be used to verify the status of approximately 600,000 shipments.

Penske states that productivity could increase by 30%-40% by eliminating repetitive manual processes and improving tracking and coordination with carriers' dispatch departments.
"We are aggressively implementing our AI strategy, and our collaboration with Augment is one of many technological initiatives to enhance customer experience", said Jeff Jackson, President of Penske Logistics.
According to Jackson, applying AI at scale offers greater convenience, transparency, and reliability for customers amidst increasingly complex operations.
From the technology partner's perspective, Harish Abbott, co-founder and CEO of Augment, believes that AI transformation in logistics is not merely about adding new tools but about reimagining work on a foundation tailored to industry specifics and existing processes.
Augment currently serves major customers such as NFI, Hirschbach Motor Lines, Echo Global Logistics, and Arrive Logistics.
Beyond Penske Logistics, other business segments within Penske Transportation Solutions, including Penske Truck Leasing, are also advancing AI adoption to improve efficiency. Penske Truck Leasing's Catalyst AI fleet management platform, launched in 4/2024, includes a "Fantasy Fleet" tool designed to enhance operational performance.
According to the Transportation Leaders Survey 2025 published by Penske Truck Leasing, approximately 70% of transportation businesses adopted AI in 2025, a 17 percentage point increase from the previous year. The most common applications include vehicle performance monitoring, freight pricing, fuel optimization, fleet utilization, benchmarking, and maintenance.
